Transportation Department

From the Director

Welcome! The Escambia County School District Transportation Department transports some 24,000 students over more than 33,000 miles of roadway on board 330 school buses each and every school day. It is one of the largest student transportation operations in the United States. The responsibility that guides that effort is immense, but our staff of 475 employees will not budge an inch without an abiding commitment to do it safely, dependably, and efficiently. That is our commitment to the students we transport and their parents, the public, and our schools.

Rob Doss

Director of Transportation

ATTENTION PARENTS!

Please remember that unless your student's address information is current and accurate in the District's database, we cannot ensure he or she will be scheduled for transportation on the right bus on the first day of school. Since we're routing buses already for the coming school year, we strongly encourage you to go to your child's school the week of July 21st and ensure his or her address and contact information are correct. That information also helps ensure the District can reach you in the event of an emergency, and it's also used to provide other essential student services for your child as well. If you have any questions about this or about any other student transportation matter, please give us a call.

NOW HIRING!

The Escambia County School District is seeking professionally-minded individuals to transport students to and from school. Applicants must be determined to make a positive difference in the lives of students and they must be committed to safety and excellence. We will train qualified applicants. Apply now by calling (850) 469-5328 or apply in person at 100 E. Texar Drive, Pensacola.

Transportation Registration

Everything you need to know to register your eligible child for school bus transportation is contained on this website. Follow the links  on our site to determine your child's eligibility, registration requirements, rules and parameters, and special requests. We'll be happy to see how we can help you.

If you have changed your address and/or other contact information, please provide the updated information to your school's front office immediately so they can update the District's student information system. Your child's transportation eligibility and services are derived from the information contained in your child's student record. Please assist us in ensuring our records are updated as soon as that information changes.

2014-15 Transportation Accommodation Requests

The Transportation Department has made phone calls to the parents of our bus riders to invite them to submit Requests for Transportation Accommodation for the 2014-15 school year (download HERE). Those who submit their requests by April 25 will be considered in initial school bus routing, a process that will begin later that month.  Requests must be submitted each school year so transportation planners can accurately assess available seat space for new eligible riders and new space available transportation requests.

We will approve requests to the maximum extent possible, but all should bear in mind that as it is space available seating, absolute first priority goes to students who are naturally eligible for those bus seats. In some instances where bus (and school) rosters can be unstable, we'll need to wait to approve requests until we know how the rosters actually look. Again, we'll do all we can to approve as many as we can as early as we can.

We believe this improvement will take a huge load off the minds of parents and schools during the hectic early days of the school year.

2014-15 School Choice Transportation Renewals

The Transportation Department has sent School Choice Transportation requests home with Choice with Transportation students already receiving transportation. Requests received by March 31, 2014 will receive priority consideration.  Download an Elementary School Choice Transportation Request HERE.
