ECPS Implementing a New Library Media Access Policy

Pensacola, FL - Escambia County Public Schools has implemented a new process which allows parents to choose their student's level of access to school library collections through the Focus Parent Portal.

Beginning May 1st, 2023, parents may log into the Focus Parent Portal and complete the K-12 Library Access form.  This form is located under the ‘Forms’ tab. Parents may select ‘Unlimited,’ ‘Limited,’ or ‘No Access.’

‘Unlimited Library Access’ is the default access and means that the student may have full access to check out grade and age-appropriate books that are available in their school’s library, to include same grade level interlibrary loan, as well as classroom libraries.

‘Limited Library Access' indicates the student may check out materials from the library media center, but there is content the student may not have access to in the library media center.  If ‘Limited Library Access' is selected, the parent/guardian will state what materials or topics they do not wish the student to access. Students with ‘Limited Library Access’ will not have access to classroom libraries and digital library collections.

‘No Library Access’ indicates the student is not permitted to access books in the library media center, classroom libraries, or digital library collections.

Parents/guardians wishing to make a decision other than ‘Unlimited’ will need to log into the Focus Student Information System HERE, and complete the Library Access Form.
