• Scholars Program

  • Introduced in 2017, PHS Scholars Program is designed to support students in advanced academic coursework in preparation for transition to a 4-year university program directly after graduation.

Underclassmen students begin the program in Honors and the possibility of Advanced Placement (AP) courses to support academic skills.  Most scholars students progress to enrolling in a majority of AP or Dual Enrollment courses by the junior year, or have the opportunity to apply for admission into the PHS IB program after the freshman or sophomore year.  All of these options provide students the ability to earn college credit while still in high school.

Scholars Program students can concurrently enroll in a career academy with their scholars courses and/or fill their daily schedule with other elective options offered at PHS.

Each student's academic plan is created based on the individual strengths and areas for growth of each student.  This flexible plan allows a student to take advanced courses in just one content area or many content areas depending on their growth goals.

Additionally, the scholars program welcomes upperclassmen students who would like to find the right balance between rigorous academic coursework and various other areas of interest.

    Why Choose AP?

AP students who earn a score of 1 or 2, or average a score of 1 or 2 across their AP Exams in high school, have better college outcomes than academically similar college students who did not take an AP course and exam.
