    About Me:

I have been a professional Librarian for the last seven years. I have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Alabama and have also worked in a public library setting, as well as a college library setting.

I have two children myself and have raised them to love reading long before I chose this career. They are cute little bookworms and sometimes I have to make them stop reading to do their homework, eat their dinner, or go to bed. People always ask me how I did this. I made sure they had LOTS of reading materials all the time. Utilize the public library! You don’t need lots of money to have lots of books. Literally all you need is a library card. I would have “reading time” where we all sat and independently read our own books every single day. It may seem daunting, but it’s actually heavenly to set aside 15-30 minutes to just sit quietly and read. By modeling reading they were encouraged to read themselves. Lastly, I let them read what they want. Graphic novels, chapter books, picture books, cat encyclopedias (not kidding), whatever. Their independent reading time was their choice, I never made them read things they didn’t want to read. Reading HAS to be fun if you want them to enjoy it. Now they carry books with them everywhere. My older one has both ebooks and audiobooks on her phone as well as physical books in her backpack and my younger one carries books with him at all times. If you ever see a child walking through the store, reading a graphic novel while his mom tells him to watch out for the people around him, that might be my kid.

My intention is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for emerging, learning, and established readers. It’s one of my highest priorities to maintain a collection that supports intellectual freedom while making sure that all the content available is age appropriate for your teens. If you have any questions about anything going on in the library, my contact information is on the website and I would love to hear from you. Seriously! I love it when parents call me about the library and show interest in their child’s education! It actually puts a smile on my face. 😀

I'm definitely a homebody! I love my family, my cats, reading (mostly fantasies and thrillers), and sewing. When I'm not here, you'll find me spending time in one or more of those aspects.
