Mrs. Janet Penrose was born and raised just outside of New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Pensacola, Florida with her family in 1990. She is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of '92. Mrs. Penrose attended Pensacola Junior College where she received her AA degree. She moved on to the University of West Florida where she studied education and received her degree in Middle School Education with an emphasis in Mathematics. She later went back to work on her Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership.
She has been an employee of the Escambia County School District since August 1999. She has spent most of this time at Bailey Middle School where she taught 7th grade Mathematics for nine years. Mrs. Penrose then moved into an Administrative Dean position for one year and then served as an Assistant Principal for three years. Mrs. Penrose went to work at Bellview Middle School for two years as an Assistant Principal before returning to Bailey Middle School as Principal. We welcomed her to Brown-Barge as our principal in 2022.

Mrs. Jackson joined Brown-Barge Middle School as Assistant Principal in 2016. Prior to being at BBMS she served as a District Instructional Coach at several middle and elementary schools. Much of Mrs. Jackson’s educational career was at Ransom Middle teaching science and sponsoring their Student Government, better known as the Student Leadership Team. She graduated from Indiana University “Go Hoosiers!” and received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida.
She loves teaching students about leadership and watching them grow to be stronger and more confident. One of her favorite quotes is “Live the life you love, love the life you live.” Her loves: the Cincinnati Reds, running, walking on the beach, and spending time with her husband and three children.
Being at Brown-Barge and experiencing the Stream concept and lifelong learning has been inspirational. The atmosphere here is positive and motivating, and she is looking forward to the future at BBMS.
