    Arrival and Drop Off

    • Arrival will begin each morning at 7:15 a.m. at the bus loop parking lot (located off Raymond Street). If you are driving your child to school, please have them stay in the car until a staff member arrives to escort them into the gate.

      • The gates will be closed promptly at 7:25 a.m. If you are late, please report to the front office.

    • Dismissal will begin at 1:15 for elementary school and 1:20 for secondary students. The back gates will open at 1:00 p.m. and close at 1:30 p.m.

    Personal Belongings

    • Upon entering the building, your child will need to hand over all belongings. Lunch boxes may be carried to the cafeteria. Otherwise, backpacks, phones, purses, toys, etc. must go onto the cart. The cart will be secured throughout the day. No personal items can go to the classrooms.

    • Students may be randomly wanded using a metal detector at times of heightened security.

    Early Dismissal

    • Please send a written note, email, or phone call to communicate about early dismissals on the morning of the early dismissal. If notified, staff can have students prepared for pick-up. Please note that frequent and routine early dismissals will not be permitted.

    • Students can only be checked out by adults listed on the FOCUS account.

    • Please bring an ID to pick up your child.

    Tardiness

    • Please escort your child into the building and sign them in.

    • Your child is your responsibility until they are formally handed off to a staff member of our school (i.e., signed in, through magnetic doors).

    Attendance

    • Elementary and middle school attendance will be taken daily and high school attendance will be taken every period. In accordance with Florida State law, school attendance is mandatory on designated school days.

      • If your child has more than 10 unexcused absences, the administration will reach out to the family to discuss attendance policies.

      • At 20 unexcused absences, your child will be referred to a school district social worker.

      • At 30 absences, your child may be a candidate for retention.

    • If your child is absent due to a doctor's appointment, illness, etc., please send in a note, call, or email an excuse for FOCUS records.

    Visitors on Campus

    • We love to have families on campus! In order to maintain safety, you must:

      • Provide an ID to the front office prior to entering the building

      • Be escorted throughout the hallways

    Parent Observations

    • Parents are welcome to conduct a 30-minute observation each semester. Please contact the administration in order to request an appointment. In accordance with district policies, requests must be made with at least 24-hour notice and an administrator or designee must be present throughout the entirety of the observation.

    Recess

    • All elementary students are entitled to a 30-minute, unstructured recess time. Regardless of level, all students are permitted to play on the playground and basketball court as long as it is between 35-90 degrees (feels like temperature) and not raining.

    • In the event that a child has ISS or a major behavioral concern (e.g., attempting to escape from campus), the administration reserves the right to temporarily change a child’s recess time or provide an alternative setting in order to maintain safety.
