    SGA Upcoming Events:

     

    Seniors, SGA is hosting a job fair next Tuesday, April 30 during all lunches in the Innovation Center. Many businesses will be taking resumes and applications. There will also be trade schools signing people up. If you need help building a resume, see Ms. Gillman in room 511. She will be holding a resume writing workshop this Thursday after school as well. You will find the flyers posted around the school for a list of businesses that will be in attendance.

    Student Spotlight! Member of the Month!

    Project Member Spotlight — Division of Rehabilitation Psychology

     

     

     Congratulations to Jayda Holmes, our Member of the Month!. Apart from being an amazing student, she's an amazing SGA member. Jayda has top tier attendance, is very artistic, has no referrals, is dual enrolled, and is part of the PFHS S2S Team, overall always very involved! Go, Jayda!

    What we do: 

    • SGA organizes all Homecoming events. They take place at the beginning of the school year.

    • We are also in charge of our Spring Job Fair for our upperclassmen.

    • SGA is part of the Florida Association of Student Councils. FASC is an organization that brings together SGAs in our state and helps create strong leaders.

    • Blood drives and fundraising is done in order to raise money for SGA’s various activities.

    • We also offer many opportunities for community service hours.

    • We have eight committees that members are placed in at the beginning of the year. These committees are your main focus, but everyone helps other committees as needed.

    Upperclassmen Requirements to join:

    • 3.0 gpa

    • No referrals this year or the previous year

    • Teacher nomination

    • Voted in by the student body

    • Must uphold school rules and represent the student body properly

    • Must obtain 90%-100% attendance rate throughout the school year

    Incoming freshmen will need:

    • B or higher grade average 

    • Three teacher recommendations

    PFHS SGA allows one student per 50, not including the officers. 

    Monetary requirements:

    At least one t-shirt will need to be purchased. This year we bought two and the total cost was $32.16.

    Optional is a sweatshirt. The cost is roughly $30. 

    We have a possibility of three FASC district meeting field trips. The cost is $20 each. This year we went to two of the three. 

    The FASC state conference is not mandatory. It is a weekend field trip from Friday to Sunday. The cost of registration is $185 plus the cost of hotel and transportation. This year, we have eleven students going and due to fundraising, we are able to completely cover the cost.
