TIER 3 POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION PLAN (PBIP) RESOURCES
WHAT IS TIER 3 BEHAVIOR?
Tier 3: Intensive/Individual Supports are designed to focus on the needs of individuals who exhibit patterns of severe or extreme problem behavior. Tier 3 is most effective when there are positive Tier 1 universal and Tier 2 supplemental systems in place. It should involve a comprehensive approach that includes a Functional Behavior Assessment and Positive Behavior Intervention Plan to understand and intervene with the behavior, and should use multi-element interventions. The goal of Tier 3: Intensive/Individual Support is to diminish problem behavior and to increase the student's adaptive skills so that the student may be successful in the learning environment.
WHAT IS A PBIP?
A PBIP is a blueprint for changing behavior. Specifically, it provides a written plan or instructions for addressing challenging behavior and teaching skills that help the student get what he or she wants in a more appropriate way (a functional alternative behavior). A PBIP includes interventions based on the hypothesized or demonstrated function of the behavior as identified in the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA).
It is recommended that PBIP Plan Managers receive training in FOCUS-SSS and the PBIP process to effectively lead the team.
If you are an PBIP Plan Manager and have not received training on the PBIP Process, click the link below for upcoming training dates or contact BEST team trainers, Amanda Mann or Marcia Storniolo.FBA - PBIP WORKSHOP

The PBIP is completed in the SSS tab within the student's FOCUS portal. The resources on this page include everything the PBIP Plan Manager will need to help the team be successful in implementing the student's PBIP.
