Myrtle Grove Elementary
School-Family Compact 2023-2024
Myrtle Grove Elementary and the families of students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I Part A agree that this compact outlines how the families, school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved students’ academic achievement and the means by which the school and families will develop a partnership to help children achieve the state’s high standards.
School Responsibilities
Myrtle Grove Elementary will:
Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the state’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
- Utilize textbooks with supporting curriculum to meet the unique needs of all students. Provide additional support through software and other resources
- Use of small group instruction to individualize instruction
- Provide family information/literacy nights to enrich and extend the learning into the home and build the capacity of parents to support academic achievement of their children
Hold parent – teacher conferences to share assessment and progress data as it relates to the individual child’s academic achievement. Meetings will be held at varying and flexible times
Provide families with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically, the school will provide mid-term reports each 9 weeks. These can be accessed through the FOCUS parent portal.
Provide families reasonable access to staff. Staff will be available for conferences as requested by parents before school, after school, or during planning times
Provide families with opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and observe classroom activities as a volunteer, assistant, or general observer with prior notification to the teacher for an effective participation
Families Responsibilities
We will support our children’s learning in the following ways:
- Monitor attendance by making sure that students are in school and on time
- Ensure that homework is completed, and utilize internet extended learning sites with adult supervision on a weekly basis to extend learning into the home environment, if internet is available
- Participate in decisions relating to our children’s education, and attend meetings
- Stay informed about our children’s education, communicate with the school, and assist in reinforcing the importance of achieving educational goals to the child
- Provide current contact numbers for emergencies and educational academic information
Student Responsibilities (as appropriate to developmental levels)
As a student, I will share the responsibility to improve my academic achievement and I will:
- Do my homework every day and ask for help when needed
- Read at least 20 minutes every day outside the school day
- Utilize internet study sites weekly with adult supervision, when internet access is available
- Give my parents/guardian all notices and information from the school
- Follow the three Myrtle Grove Elementary Rules: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Safe
