Pensacola High
School-Family Compact 2023-2024
Pensacola High School staff, along with our families and students, agree that this compact outlines how we all share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement. This compact will contribute to the mission of Pensacola High School, which is to inspire and prepare all students for postsecondary and career readiness to meet the demands of an ever-changing world.
School Responsibilities
As principal of Pensacola High School, I will share the responsibility for improving student achievement and will nurture a partnership to help students graduate within four years. Specifically, I will:
- Provide a safe, orderly, supportive environment in which students have the maximum opportunity for academic success
- Make decisions regarding high quality curriculum and instruction based on data and recent research that will enable students to meet state standards, and prepare students for life-long learning and the world of work
- Provide counselors/staff that assist students with academic and career guidance as well as support for individual problems
- Provide an environment that allows for positive communication among the student, teacher, and parent
- Ensure the communication of student’s state assessment results, academic achievement, and progress towards graduation
Teacher Responsibilities
As a teacher I will share the responsibility of the success and progression in the education of my students helping them to achieve or exceed state standards. Specifically, I will:
- Hold to the true and consistent belief in the fact that every child can learn
- Come to class prepared with lessons/materials and respecting every child as an individual
- Create a classroom environment of respect and rapport, and establish a culture of learning
- Make expectations clear, maintain discipline, and require students to complete assignments
- Keep parents informed of their child’s progress through phone calls, reports, emails, and/or conferences throughout the year
Family Responsibilities
As a parent/guardian I will share the responsibility for my child’s success and progression in his/her academic achievement. Specifically, I will:
- Support the school in efforts to maintain proper discipline
- Monitor my child’s attendance (absences, check-outs, and tardiness)
- Monitor my child’s grades through the FOCUS parent portal, and communications with their teacher
- Make myself available, to the extent possible, to participate in activities where my attendance or input is needed
- Emphasize the importance of education on a regular basis
Student Responsibilities
As a student I will share the responsibility to improve my own achievement or exceed state standards. Specifically, I will
- Show respect for myself, my school, my peers, and my teachers
- Commit to graduate on time
- Complete my homework and classwork daily, utilize the knowledge of my teachers and family, and use any available resources given me when needed
- Arrive each day rested and on time, prepared for learning with all the required tools and materials necessary for the assignment given whether attending traditionally or remotely
- Work to the best of my ability, focusing on my subject areas, participating in class discussions, and refusing to act out in class with disruptive behavior
